These trees are approximately 250-300 years old and have been trimmed annually for nearly all their lives, the shapes are naturally formed over the years as branches sag out they form shelves and shapes.
We collect all the green clippings from this job which is sold by the client to a company that makes a breast cancer drug [taxol or taxadrin], we had nearly a ton from this one job alone as there is a lot of other yew hedging there too.
I have been creating some shapes over the last 12 years or so of doing this job but its very slow to see any real changes. It’s always an incentive for the guys working to know they are potentially helping woman with serious illnesses while working.
